Dr Anita Raja is a practicing NHS GP in the West Midlands specialising in sexual, reproductive and women’s health. She qualified as a Doctor 13 years ago.
She has vast experience in broadcast and print media appearing as a resident GP on ITV’s This Morning as well as an expert on Good Morning Britain, BBC Sunday Morning Live, Sky News, Channel 5 News, and various other mainstream programmes and channels. She is the first International Medical Graduate (IMG ) that British TV broadcasters have championed.
Born and bred in Germany, she has a brutally honest style of speech which sets her apart from her counterparts. She is particularly concerned about health inequalities faced by Black, Asian and minority ethnic (BAME) communities, and worked to raise awareness of these issues.
Her media views led her to International fame as a key opinion leader during the COVID-19 pandemic. Through her multi-linguistic skills and over a decade of clinical experience working amongst a multi-ethnic patient cohort in West Midlands she has been instrumental in addressing vaccine hesitancy in the BAME community.
She commenced her career as broadcaster herself in 2004 for Pakistan Television, whilst still an A-levels student working in media until 2013. Between 2021 -2022 she stepped back into presenting to host a one hour live show for British Muslim TV called “Let’s talk”, discussing hot topics like racism, racial disparity, forced marriages etc.
Anita regularly contributes to popular print, online magazines and news sources including Glamour, Stylist, Goldster, The Mirror, The Daily Mail, Netmums, Mail Online, The Sunday Times, Times Magazine and features on leading radio stations including BBC Radio WM, BBC Asian Network and BBC Radio 1 & 5.
She is a passionate supporter of the charity Tommy’s and recently appeared in a BBC One Lifeline appeal film hosted by Ben and Marina Fogle.
